Dapper DroidBlack Plasma Studios should hold more video competitions. Video competitions help breathe life into your Youtube channel’s community. Doing a bi-weekly/monthly competition or showcase would help generate more of an active audience, while also bringing exposure to the smaller channels who support you. It would create a more active and participating subscriber base, both on Youtube and even extending to these forums. If you take a look at other popular Youtube channels, they are heavily active with their subscriber base.
The cone competition Black Plasma Studios held in February did all of these things, but it should become an often occurrence, instead of something that happens once in a blue moon. It’s not like these competitions need monetary prizes. Just having their channel be featured for a short period of time would generate interest.
I really like this idea and would love to see it, but the problem I have is people might do halo machinima and those are done on the channel.
I too would like to see more contests, it would make some people, myself included, get off our lazy ass and make some content, although I think a bi weekly or even monthly contest would be too much, They tried that over at Machinination.com and people weren’t participating. Besides that people shouldn’t just crank out content, time and effort should be put into it, I’d say every 3-4 months, that’s more than enough time.

We have a lot of community interaction on Hypixel and through streams on our gaming channel. If we did more frequent competitions, they wouldn’t be centred around Halo machinima. They probably wouldn’t be Minecraft animation either as that kind of content takes a long time to produce, so we’re a bit lost on ideas.
Discussions to have more competitions are present however.
Ivan ChristieI back this idea. A shame I can’t participate myself, but hey! Seeing new content fills me with inspiration to build. So BPS should definitely have something like this!
Have you thought of Live action competitions?
I am a live action Director, and would love to participate in something like that.We want to become an animation channel. Live action competitions don’t really fit into this agenda.
The problem I personally have with competitions, is it ends up creating more people that get upset than anything. Even the winners get upset because they weren’t 1st, and the nonwinners think they should have won.
I was thinking more along the lines of Community Collab videos like this, where everyone enters sorta and the top 20 or so are chosen:

The Hypixel community isn’t exactly your Youtube community, even though they both mix in some areas. As well, your gaming channel is an off channel that doesn’t even have 1% of your main channel’s subscriber base, so you’re reaching a limited amount of your audience. I’m a subscriber and I haven’t played Minecraft in over a year.
More community interaction = More likability = More views = More subscribers

You could center the competitions around something Minecraft related if that’s the only place you want the channel focused. Otherwise, it could be open to all type of Machinima.
Halo Machinima doesn’t really exist anymore. Instead people are going towards Grand Theft Auto V, Source Film Maker, and other Halo-esk ways to film. If you are stringent about Halo Machinima, then it could always be a rule that Halo Machinima would not be accepted.

I think something along the lines of the video you linked would work really well and serve the same purpose as a competition, minus the negative ramifications like you said. I think your Youtube audience and others in the Minecraft video community would be appreciative with more interaction. I know I would.
Or what we can do to make it fair is take 25%-50% of the people that you liked and that you thought took effort and you just showcase those and leave it up to the audience to choose who they liked with a poll and you decide that way and it is done per IP address so no bots or anything like that can get in the way.

It could be a machinima competition in any engine, and perhaps encourage folks to Pursue different genres, like do a best in parody/comedy/drama ect when announcing winners.
Make a script that people have to film. And the competition could be who best executes it. They could be made in different engines. So you could have a Minecraft, Halo, GTAV version of the same script. Could be interesting 😛
